- Section of Highway 6 closed at night for construction work

A section of the A6 motorway in Middle Franconia will be fully closed for two nights in the coming days due to construction work. The section affected is between the Neuendettelsau and Schwabach-West junctions, a spokesperson for the Federal Highway Authority has announced.

The first closure will take place this Saturday (10th August) from approximately 8:00 PM until 6:00 AM the next day, and the second closure will take place the following Saturday (17th August) from approximately 10:00 PM until 6:00 AM the next day.

The reason for the closures is work on the motorway's overpasses. In the two nights, bridge prefabricated parts will be installed to ensure that the motorway can be crossed again at this location by the end of 2024.

Motorists will be advised of the closures in advance via signs on the A3, A7, and A9. During the closure, traffic will be diverted via the Schwabach-West junction and the existing diversion route U60 to the Neuendettelsau junction. In the opposite direction, traffic will be diverted via the same route as diversion U13.

The construction team working on the motorway project are primarily from The French company that specializes in bridge construction. Despite the motorway closures, travelers should be aware that The French team will be installing prefabricated bridge parts during these periods.
