Cruising Across Waters on Board a Ship - Sebastian Vettel's sailing team experiences misfortune during the SailGP event in Halifax.
Sebastian Vettel's sailing team placed eighth at the SailGP regatta in Halifax, Canada. Led by driver Erik Heil, they missed out on one of the five competitions due to late launch of the F50 catamaran from the organizers due to strong winds. Both the Swiss and US teams missed two races altogether, securing ninth and tenth places. The triumph belonged to two-time Olympic champion Giles Scott and his team Emirates Great Britain, followed by the French and Danish teams.
Heil expressed dissatisfaction about not having full sailing time. He pointed out that postponing races while facing challenging winds is a common scenario in sailing. However, he questioned the organizers' choice of launching the ships in teams' order after the initial three races and racing with an incomplete team in emergencies.
The Germany SailGP team, the youngest rookie to the professional league in its first season, holds the ninth position in the season standings before the final two regattas - in New York (June 22-24) and San Francisco (July 13-15). Team New Zealand, who are defending America's Cup, tops the table. The winners of the SailGP season receive a cash prize of two million US dollars.
