Municipalities - Sebastian Schrempp remains Lord Mayor of Rheinstetten
Rheinstetten's incumbent mayor Sebastian Schrempp has once again won the mayoral election. According to the preliminary results, the CDU politician won the election on Sunday with 73.3 percent of the vote against his challenger Isabella Metzke, as the city announced on its website in the evening. Metzke received 26.53 percent of the vote. Although the 29-year-old is a member of the SPD, she stood as a non-party candidate in the election. Voter turnout in the Baden town in the Karlsruhe district was 43.09 percent.
This is the 45-year-old Schrempp's third term in office. He was first elected to the leadership of Rheinstetten town hall in 2007 at the age of 29. Born in Freiburg, he has lived in the municipality since his earliest childhood. According to the town, around 17,000 citizens were called to vote on Sunday.
