Seawolves celebrate second home win against Larnaca

The Rostock Seawolves have kept their chance of making it through the group stage of the Fiba Europe Cup. On Wednesday evening, the Bundesliga basketball team defeated AEK Larnaka from Cyprus 86:73 (47:38). After four of six games in Group C, the team now has two wins and two defeats. With their second victory in total in the Stadthalle in this competition, the team from Rostock also took revenge for the 76:78 in the first encounter with Larnaca. The Seawolves' best scorer was Derrick Alston, who notched up 17 points.

Rostock needed a few minutes to find its game in the first quarter. They then built up a 22:17 lead, but lost their concentration again. The visitors produced an 8:0 run in the space of 70 seconds. However, Wes Clark drained a three for the home side on the final buzzer to tie the scores after the first quarter. Rostock was the dominant team in the second period up to the break.

The team of Head Coach Christian Held paved the way to victory with a 15:1 run in the first four minutes of the third quarter. The visitors were only able to reduce the deficit by a few points in the final period, but were no longer able to put the Seawolves under pressure.

The Rostock Seawolves are aiming to continue their successful run in the Fiba Europe Cup, having previously won in the Fiba Europe Cup with Rostock as their venue. In their recent match against AEK Larnaka, Derrick Alston, with his 17 points, was instrumental in securing another home victory for the Rostock Seawolves in the Fiba Europe Cup, making it their second win in this competition.
