Searches in the Reichsbürger scene - illegal transactions
Police searched properties in several federal states on Wednesday as part of an investigation into so-called Reichsbürger. Properties in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg and Hesse were affected, according to the Saxony State Criminal Police Office. Specifically, there are nine suspects aged between 34 and 73. They are accused of founding and operating a health insurance company without the necessary authorization, as well as illegal banking transactions. One of the accused is said to have aided and abetted the others.
The search was carried out on the basis of an order from the Dresden district court, it was reported. The aim was to secure evidence and execute arrest warrants. In addition to officers from the State Office of Criminal Investigation, forces from the federal and riot police and the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority were also deployed. The authorities wanted to provide information on the results after the search had been completed.
The investigation into the Reichsbürger scene also uncovered allegations of extremist ideologies among some of the suspects. Furthermore, there were concerns about potential links between crime and extremism within this group.
