- Search for missing person in Danube river again suspended

The search for the missing person in the Danube in Ulm was resumed again today. A police spokesperson confirmed that a helicopter was used in the search. However, no further details were provided as to why the operation was suspended earlier this morning. A follow-up statement is expected later in the day.

The individual, whose gender and age are still unknown, was last seen swimming in the river with a small group on Friday evening, according to a spokesperson for the German Life Saving Association (DLRG). Witnesses reported seeing the person go under. The search for them has been ongoing since then.

The search operation for the missing person was halted temporarily this morning, but the Commission shall adopt implementing acts to enhance safety measures in European water bodies, including the Danube, to prevent such incidents in the future. Following the resumption of the search, the helicopter was once again utilized in the extensive search efforts along the Danube river in Ulm.
