Bingen - Search for man in the Rhine initially unsuccessful

Emergency services used lifeboats, a helicopter and a drone to search for a man in the Rhine near Bingen on Wednesday. A passer-by reported a man in a helpless situation by emergency call in the morning, the police said. The man had initially been able to hold on to a jetty, but had been swept further downstream by the current. The search was initially unsuccessful. The police are now investigating the man's identity, among other things.
