Bingen - Search for man in the Rhine initially unsuccessful
Emergency services used lifeboats, a helicopter and a drone to search for a man in the Rhine near Bingen on Wednesday. A passer-by reported a man in a helpless situation by emergency call in the morning, the police said. The man had initially been able to hold on to a jetty, but had been swept further downstream by the current. The search was initially unsuccessful. The police are now investigating the man's identity, among other things.

The man's struggle for survival in the Rhine involved holding onto a jetty in Rhineland-Palatinate, but the strong current eventually pushed him further downstream.
