Exhibitions - Sculptor and Karl Marx great-granddaughter shows works in Rostock
An exhibition of works by the German-Russian sculptor Anna Bogouchevskaia will open at the Kunsthalle Rostock on Saturday (18:00). According to the curator, the artist is a great-granddaughter of Karl Marx and is presenting her first German survey exhibition entitled "Fallen Falls" at the Kunsthalle until March 30, 2024.
The sculptures are intended as monuments to 20 world-renowned waterfalls, but should also be seen as a memorial to a world in decline. A total of 140 exhibits are on display, including numerous sketches as well as Bogouchevskaia's early work in the context of the works of the French-Russian artist Marc Chagall. Born in Moscow in 1966, the artist moved to Berlin in the early 1990s, where she lives and works.
