- Scorpions and Doro immortalized in Wackener Walk of Legends
Legends of the Heavy-Metal Festival in Schleswig-Holstein's Wacken are getting a "Walk of Legends". The first metal artists to immortalize themselves at the village's inn were the German band Scorpions, metal queen Doro Pesch, and Joey Belladonna, singer of the US band Anthrax. They all left their handprints in concrete slabs to be set into the ground at the entrance of the inn.
"For a while, we were the house band here," said long-time Motörhead drummer Mikkey Dee, who now plays for the Scorpions. It's nice to be back in Wacken, he said, for the first time with the German band. Scorpions singer Klaus Meine said about the concerts in Wacken: "It truly feels like coming home." That evening, the band from Hannover was set to headline the festival for the third time.

Düsseldorf native Doro Pesch said she was very grateful. She played in Wacken for the first time in 1993 and has always enjoyed performing there. Joey Belladonna also emphasized the hospitality and affection of the fans in Wacken.
The W:O:A is considered one of the largest heavy-metal festivals worldwide. For several days, the community of 2,000 inhabitants becomes the center of the scene. According to the organizers, the Scorpions have already headlined Wacken three times. Other expected acts include Korn, Blind Guardian, and Gene Simmons, the singer and bassist of Kiss, who is now touring with a solo band.
The organizers announced that 'The following shall be added' to the Wacken's Walk of Legends: Doro Pesch and Joey Belladonna's handprints, to honor their significant contributions to the heavy-metal festival. After their initial performances, both artists expressed their deep appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality they received from the Wacken fans.
