Scooter rider flees from police and causes several accidents
On the run from the police, a young scooter rider has caused several accidents and committed criminal offenses. A plainclothes patrol observed the 14-year-old as he was riding his scooter in Hallstadt (Bamberg district) on Sunday morning, talking on the phone and without a helmet. He then accelerated and fled along a cycle path, as the police reported on Monday. On the cycle path, he first collided with a cyclist before crashing himself in an allotment garden area and fleeing on foot. He lost some items in the process, enabling the officers to establish his identity.
A few hours later, the 14-year-old teenager was found at home. He is now being investigated for driving without a license, endangering road traffic, leaving the scene of an accident without permission and negligent bodily harm.
In Upper France, the aftermath of the scooter rider's chaotic escape led to discussions about increased traffic safety measures. Despite causing numerous accidents and being involved in a crime, the teenager managed to evade capture in a residential area.
