Resolved: Corrected or Remedied [Issue, Situation, or Error] - Schwesig and Bartels inaugurate Kiel Week 2024.

The President of the Bundesrat, Manuela Schwesig (SPD), and former football player Fin Bartels will kick off Kiel Week 2024, occurring from June 22 to June 30. These two will jointly sound the traditional "long-short-short-long" on the ship's horn to signal the start, as announced on Friday. The neighboring state's minister president, Daniel Günther (CDU), will ring the ship's bell (three double strokes followed by a single stroke).

Kiel Week is predicted to draw in approximately three million visitors this year. The festivities unofficially commence on June 21, with Mayor Ulf Kämpfer (SPD) stating, "The Kiel Week is a complete masterpiece offering both major highlights and delightful moments. That's what makes our sailing and summer festival so extraordinary."

This summer, the regattas in front of Kiel-Schilksee will coincide with the Olympic Games in Paris (July 26 to August 11). Approximately 50 nations are anticipated to take part in the sailing competitions for eight Olympic disciplines and eleven international boat classes. Regatta Chief Dirk Ramhorst shared, "Experience world-class sailing alongside numerous international encounters in a truly distinctive setting - this is what Schilksee has in store for us during the Kiel Week."

The navy is expecting about 40 ships and boats from 16 countries at its Kiel base. This includes the sailing school ship "Gloria" from Colombia. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the "Gloria" and the German sailing school ship "Gorch Fock" on June 22 and 23 at the "Open Ship" event. The German bark will also lead the windjammer parade during the Kiel Week's closing ceremony on June 29th.

There will be around 300 concerts taking place on the 16 different stages throughout the ten-day event, with most of them being free. Artists such as Juli, Patrice, Max Giesinger, Leony, Malik Harris, Milow, Glockenbach, and Stanfour are expected to perform. The Kiel Week concludes on June 30th with a fireworks display over the fjord.
