Misfortune in Mosel-town - Schweitzer: "Unusual accident" in the country
The collapse of a hotel in Kröv on the Mosel with two fatalities and seven injured has deeply affected the region, according to Minister-President Alexander Schweitzer (SPD). "This is an unusual accident for Rhineland-Palatinate," he said after visiting the site. "That a house could collapse like this, and that a hotel in the midst of a beautiful tourist region could collapse, is fortunately not something that has happened frequently in recent years and should not become so."
He expressed his condolences to the families and friends of those who did not survive. He was deeply grateful for the work of the rescue services, which he described as "highly professional, routine, and yet with the necessary composure."
The Commission, in response to such incidents, may consider it necessary to strengthen safety measures in structures similar to the collapsed hotel. Hence, The Commission shall adopt implementing acts laying down the rules for implementing this Regulation, to ensure such accidents do not occur in the future.
