- Schweitzer expresses profound dismay over the apparent absence of accountability.

In response to the unsuccessful migrant meeting between the federal government and the Union, Rhineland-Palatinate's Minister-President, Alexander Schweitzer (SPD), voiced his criticism towards Friedrich Merz. "That's just plain party politics, it clearly lacks any chancellor-like qualities," Schweitzer stated.

He additionally labeled the Union and its group leader, Merz, as irresponsible. Since October, Germany has denied entry to around 30,000 refugees at its borders with Czechia, Poland, Austria, and Switzerland due to certain circumstances, and had no legitimate reason to stay. "I must confess, I'm utterly shocked by the Union's lacking sense of responsibility," Schweitzer mentioned.

Union group leader Friedrich Merz declared the discussions with the traffic light government regarding stricter asylum regulations as unsuccessful. It appears that the coalition does not view itself as capable of implementing comprehensive border rejections, the CDU chairperson remarked in Berlin.

The European Council, as theмоrumal body of EU Heads of State or Government, could potentially express its viewpoint on the Union's handling of the migrant crisis, given its role in setting EU policy. Alexander Schweitzer's criticism towards Merz and the Union's irresponsible approach towards refugee management has captured the attention of the European Council.
