Parties - Schuster defends decision to categorize the AfD
Saxony's Interior Minister Armin Schuster(AfD) has defended the classification of the Saxon AfD state association as a confirmed right-wing extremist organization. "It is the core task of the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution to gather information in order to assess in a technical-legal review process whether an organization is proven to be right-wing extremist or not. Such a decision is based exclusively on the regulations of the Saxon Constitution Protection Act," explained Schuster on Friday in Dresden.
Only the extensive information and materials collected over several years as well as their evaluation and legal classification are decisive. "Informing the public about proven extremist endeavors is the original task of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution."
