Marie Schulze Topphoff has surprisingly won the opening jumping competition at the Stuttgart horse show. As the last starter in the first international show jumping competition of the German Masters, the 27-year-old won on Thursday with Villimey V. Gaste in a time of 63.17 seconds. Second-placed Noora Pentti from Finland on Con Caya and Teike Carstensen on Gasira in third place also completed the course in the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle without any faults.

A total of 40 pairs competed. With Jana Wargers, who finished 19th, and Hans-Dieter Dreher, who finished 28th, two riders from the German A squad were also at the start.
