Representatives' House - Schulze set to assume new post as Left Party's parliamentary leader.
Tobias Schulze, deputy leader of the left-wing faction in the Berlin House of Representatives, is set to assume the top position left vacant by Carsten Schatz, who is stepping down on June 11th. Anne Helm, Schulze's fellow leader since 2020, is seeking re-election for the co-leadership role. Meanwhile, Schulze's post as deputy leader will be shared with Manuela Schmidt, who will continue in her position, and Elif Eralp, the new face to join the positional change. Franziska Brychcy, the party's state chairwoman, is stepping down as vice-chair in the faction.
In this election season of turn-based voting, the aspiring parliamentary business managers are Hendrikje Klein and Niklas Schrader, both working in tandem for the role. The seasoned Steffen Zillich, who has served this role for a long time, is bidding farewell to the position. Left party membership counts 21 representatives in the Berlin House of Representatives, making it the fourth largest among the factions.
