Illegal actions have led to repercussions for the culprits. - School knife assault: Prien outlines repercussions
When a violent incident occurred in a school in Geesthacht, the Education Minister Karin Prien stated that there would be consequences. She expressed her desire for both the victims and the perpetrators to be integrated back into society, speaking during a meeting of the Education Committee in Kiel Parliament on Thursday.
On the preceding Thursday, there was an altercation at a school in the Herzogtum Lauenburg district in which a 13-year-old child stabbed a 12-year-old. As Prien mentioned, the perpetrator was temporarily expelled from school due to a standard procedure. The school conference will determine what happens next upon his return, and it is most likely that he will no longer attend this school.
The situation is similar to several other incidents that have happened in recent months and years, with no link to the school itself. According to Prien, "We're also dealing here with family relationships that have certainly not had any influence on the children's propensity for violence." This results in the involvement of the youth welfare office and other organizations, as the school cannot address this issue on its own.
The central focus for the Education Minister is that, in schools dealing with high levels of violence readiness, there needs to be ongoing collaboration between various organizations, like youth welfare, police, and social workers. In this way, these entities can work together to prevent such incidents from occurring. "This is something we can't honestly say is the case in Geesthacht as it stands now," Prien remarked.
