- School in Sömmerda bans belly-less clothing

Bauchfreie Klamotten are currently off-limits at a regular school in Sommerda. The headmistress of the Salzmannschule, Antje Koch, confirmed this in response to media inquiries. Apparently, there had been cases of bullying due to the clothing of some students. The school is thus fulfilling its duty of child protection.

Ministry spokesman: No similar case known

A spokesman for the Thuringian Ministry of Education stated that no such case had been known in the state so far. There is no general recommendation from the state regarding dress code. "We've been doing well so far by letting the schools handle it directly." It's important that students' freedom rights are not too heavily restricted.

Debates about this, such as the one about jogging pants in class, have repeatedly reached Thuringia. It's important to discuss such things at school. However, symbols of unconstitutional organizations would have no place there.

According to a report by the "Thuringian General Newspaper", the teachers' conference at the school has already decided on the dress code. However, this must still be confirmed by the school conference at the end of August, which also includes student and parent representatives. Until then, students should adhere to the dress code.

The students at the regular school in Sommerda are currently prohibited from wearing Bauchfreie Klamotten due to incidents of bullying. Despite this issue, the Thuringian Ministry of Education has not implemented a statewide dress code, as they believe it's important to let schools handle such matters directly.
