Inundation - School crisis group disbanded, flooded facility to reopen

Meckenbeuren's Bodenseekreis is gradually recovering following the recent floods, according to a municipal representative. The crisis team has disbanded, and cleanup efforts have been underway for two days now. The nice weather has greatly aided the process, they added.

In Kehlen, an elementary school is set to reopen tomorrow. The flooding has been cleared out, and the school's power has been restored. The building was submerged along with a nearby sports field after the relentless weekend rain. The Technical Relief Organization of Überlingen has drained an astonishing 30 million liters of water from the sports field, the spokesperson informed.

Over the weekend, the Schussen River swelled into Kehlen and Brochenzell, resulting in flooded streets. Approximately 1300 people were instructed to evacuate their homes and find safety elsewhere. The water level of the Schussen River reached an all-time high of 4.86 meters on Saturday evening, causing it to carry an unprecedented volume of water. On Monday, Baden-Württemberg's Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) and Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) visited the disaster site.

The representative for the municipality of nearly 13000 people shared, "We've already made considerable progress towards returning to normal life." All voting locations are good to go for the municipal and European elections scheduled on Sunday.

Septic pipes that had been submerged have been repaired and are back in action again. "Residents in all districts can bathe and use the toilet." They've also set up special trips to handle the collection of debris and to document the damage. "We're providing insurance certificates online without the usual red tape," a move that has been quite popular.

All roads in the region are now accessible, and all bridges are free of any obstructions. The fire department has visited each home to evaluate the extent of damage inflicted by the floods for the residents.
