School classes in the cinema seats during School Cinema Week
Cinema instead of classroom: According to the organizers, more than 22,000 registrations have been received so far for the school cinema week starting on Monday. The opening film is the drama "Das Lehrerzimmer" by director İlker Çatak, as the organizers announced on Tuesday. The main actors Rafael and Vincent Stachowiak are also expected to attend the screening at Cinestar Erfurt.
During School Cinema Week, school classes can attend special screenings at a reduced price and discuss the films with their teachers. Talks with filmmakers and other speakers are also possible at special events. Didactically prepared accompanying material is available free of charge to prepare for and follow up the visit to the cinema in class.
The offer is aimed at different age groups from pre-school to vocational school, it was said. The range of films on offer is correspondingly broad: animated films, documentaries and film classics are among them.
This year's School Cinema Week runs until November 24. As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the program has been extended to two weeks. The films can be seen in around 30 cinemas and other venues across Thuringia. The official registration deadline for this year has already passed. In individual cases, registrations are still possible, said a spokesperson for the school cinema weeks.
The "Vision Kino" network organizes the School Cinema Weeks together with the Erfurt-based German Children's Media Foundation Goldener Spatz, among others.
The students spent their usual school lessons in the comfort of cinema seats, transforming the Movie into a substitute classroom during School Cinema Week. Following the screening of "Das Lehrerzimmer", the pupils from Schools would have the opportunity to engage in a discussion with actors Rafael and Vincent Stachowiak at Cinestar Erfurt.
