She has tried to stop everyone from giving her presents, the 49-year-old explains in the new edition of "Verstehen Sie Spaß?" on Saturday (20:15) on German TV channel Ersten. "I don't want to accumulate merchandise," she explained in an interview with Deutsche Presse-Agentur. "You can give me a bottle of champagne or a ham." Many have now followed her request. "In the meantime, everyone has recognized the benefits for themselves too."

From Schöneberger's point of view, you don't necessarily need to give gifts to people who already have everything. "Let's be honest: it's either half-heartedly picked out or still lying around somewhere." Although she doesn't wear necklaces or rings, she keeps receiving jewelry like this as gifts. "I wonder what I'm supposed to do with it." She herself likes to give photo books as a nice memento.
