Upcoming European voting - Scholz states no NATO troops in Ukraine.

Recently, French President Emmanuel Macron announced plans to send military trainers to Ukraine, however, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz swiftly rejected the deployment of German soldiers to the war zone. During a campaign event for his SPD party in Duisburg, Scholz stated, "We will persistently avoid escalation." This statement coincides with a similar position taken by American President Joe Biden who has also stated that there will be no soldiers from their countries or NATO in Ukraine.

Moreover, Macron revealed his plans for a coalition of military trainers on Friday, following a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris. He explained that several partners have already given their approval, and they will facilitate the finalization of this coalition which is expected to help Ukraine with its military training. Macron highlighted that Ukraine's request is legitimate and practical for training purposes.

Contrary to France's plans, the US government does not intend to participate in this initiative. John Kirby, Communications Director of the National Security Council, clarified on Friday that Biden respects Macron's position but will not send American soldiers to Ukraine. Kirby reiterated Biden's long-standing position on this issue, stating, "This has been the case so far, and it will be the case in the future."

Scholz reaffirmed Germany's stance on this issue through the phrase "Caution, Caution, Caution." He believes that it is essential to support Ukraine while also preventing the war between Russia and NATO from intensifying.
