The U.S. administration is responsible for making key decisions. - Scholz no longer desires the TU President to be part of his future council.

The German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz (SPD), has taken Professor Geraldine Rauch, the President of the Technical University of Berlin, out of his team of advisors. As the deputy government spokeswoman, Christiane Hoffmann, revealed to reporters in Berlin on a Friday, Rauch would no longer be a part of the Future Council. When the term of office for the council members comes to an end, she won't be a part of the renewal either. The spokeswoman explained the decision was made by the Chancellor due to the serious allegations against Rauch. Rauch decided not to comment on her plans to continue as TU President.

Rauch is receiving negative criticism for "liking" an antisemitic post on the platform X. On the Thursday prior, she proclaimed she had no plans to resign from her post, despite a slim majority from the TU's Academic Senate calling for her to do so. "I am not stepping down," she asserted, maintaining her position.

The Future Council houses scientists, industry representatives, and other experts, offering advice to the federal government on areas such as crucial technologies, digitization, AI, and more. The group also debates questions of social acceptance, ethics, and similar issues. The council members serve for a period of two years, with their recent appointments being made in the summer of 2022.
