Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) has visited the flooded region of Upper Bavaria, accompanied by Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) and Minister President Markus Soeder (CSU). Their goal is to evaluate the state of affairs in the market of Reichertshofen, which was inundated by water masses the day prior. Faeser spoke about her worries regarding a firefighter's death during a high-water rescue operation when chatting with local officials: "What happened there is truly heartbreaking," she said on Monday. "These operations show how risky they can be."
