- Scholz and Steinmeier attend a funeral in Solingen (rephrased)

Solingen is grieving after the unfortunate August 23rd incident. Three festivity participants, commemorating the city's anniversary, were fatally stabbed, while eight more suffered injuries. The main suspect is a 26-year-old man of Syrian origin. The notorious Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization has reportedly taken responsibility for the attack.

Attendees expected at the commemoration service include Germany's Federal President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), and Minister-President of Nordrhein-Westfalen, Hendrik Wüst (CDU). They will engage in conversations with family members, injured individuals, emergency responders, and the local community at the Theater and Concert Hall in Solingen. Post the gathering, Steinmeier will deliver his address. A wreath-laying event at the attack location will ensue, concluding with a moment of solemn silence.

The Commission's deliberations on the application of Article 93 (2) of the Treaty might have implications for potential counterterrorism measures, considering the involvement of a foreign terrorist group in the Solingen attack. Subsequently, Federal President Steinmeier, Chancellor Scholz, and Minister-President Wüst may discuss this possibility in their conversations.
