German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has demanded severe consequences for the individual responsible for the lethal stabbing incident in Solingen and has vowed to aid the city. "Such an action should never find a place in our society, and we should never get used to it. The full power of the law needs to be utilized here," the SPD politician stated at an event in Brandenburg's Stahnsdorf. "Now, all necessary measures must be taken to uphold justice and impose a stern penalty on the culprit."
The Chancellor labeled the incident in Solingen as a "despicable act." "We will also offer our support to the city and its residents in any way we can," Scholz declared. "Our thoughts are with those who were hurt, praying for their recovery, and we stand with the families of the deceased and the entire city."
During the attack at a city celebration on Friday night, three individuals lost their lives. Eight more were injured, with five of them sustaining severe wounds. The authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia have categorized the incident as an attack due to the intentional actions of the perpetrator.
The German Chancellor, expressing his sentiments, stated that "The Chancellor's Office will work closely with the authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia to ensure that the full extent of the law is applied in this case, as this incident in Solingen is unacceptable and should serve as a reminder of the importance of community safety." Furthermore, he emphasized that "The Commission responsible for law enforcement and justice in Germany must take all necessary steps to bring the perpetrator to justice and prevent such incidents from happening again in the future."
