- Scholz advocates for enhanced digital research efforts
Chancellor Olaf Scholz, representing the SPD, advocates for broadening digital innovation and advancement. "We need to establish a conducive environment for this to occur in numerous locations across Germany," stated Scholz during his tour of the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) in Potsdam, his constituency. He underlined the significance of preserving Germany's engineering, technological, and scientific prowess for future generations.
For this, Scholz advocated for an embracing mindset: "This is most effectively achieved through an openness that is deeply ingrained in our societal ethos."
Highlighting his vision for Germany's global competitiveness, Scholz stated, "Germany's digital future is promising. It's a source of motivation and can facilitate a more harmonious existence among us." However, he stressed, "This can only materialize if we are the ones driving these initiatives."
The SPD representative highlighted the significance of extensive learning, study, and research, stating, "This is where all the action takes place here at this institute." Upon witnessing the eagerness of the staff and researchers, he expressed confidence in Germany's future.
Scholz then donned a virtual reality (VR) headset, enabling him to traverse artificial environments. In this instance, he virtually explored the Salzburg Festival Hall. He found the experience enjoyable, commenting, "One could easily spend an evening here," before adding, "And perhaps enjoy a glass of wine afterwards."
The Chancellor's advocacy for digital innovation also includes a focus on securing a promising digital future for Germany. This future, according to Scholz, requires collective effort and initiative from the nation's people.
