Schnellbacher lets Elversberg cheer - At the top after 4:1

Promoted SV Elversberg are still at the top of the 2nd Bundesliga and have established themselves in the top flight with a commanding home win. Coach Horst Steffen's team clearly defeated SC Paderborn 4:1 (1:1) on Saturday and will remain in third place until at least the evening match between Fortuna Düsseldorf and FC Schalke 04. The match-winner was attacker Luca Schnellbacher, who turned around the early deficit with his two goals (41st minute/50th) shortly before and shortly after half-time to put Elversberg on the right track.

In addition to Schnellbacher, Paul Stock (57) and Maurice Neubauer (60) also scored for the Saarland side in front of 8,126 spectators. The early opening goal from Sebastian Klaus (22) did not help Paderborn, who terminated the contract with former international Max Kruse this week. Elversberg already have 24 points in the table. The second division debutants could have the necessary points cushion for a carefree season by the Christmas break. Paderborn (18) slipped down the table and missed out on catching up with the hosts, who were in excellent form this time.

SV Elversberg's impressive form in Bundesliga 2 continued as they defeated SC Paderborn 4-1, with Luca Schnellbacher scoring two crucial goals. Despite Max Kruse's departure, Paderborn struggled to keep up with Elversberg, who are now firmly positioned at the top with 24 points.
