Schneekloth: Holstein Kiel "is economically healthy"
Second-division soccer club Holstein Kiel presented itself as financially stable at its general meeting. "We have seen an increase in advertising partners and television money over the past two seasons, which has helped us in terms of profitability," President Steffen Schneekloth was quoted as saying in the report of the executive committee on Tuesday. "The club received its license without any conditions, has a high equity ratio and is financially sound," he added.
The club from Schleswig-Holstein is also doing well in sporting terms at the moment: Holstein Kiel is in third place in the table after 13 match days. Most recently, coach Marcel Rapp's team beat Hamburger SV 4:2 at the Holstein Stadium.
However, the home ground is Kiel's problem child. "There is still pressure to act with regard to the renovation of the Holstein Stadium, as the club is already in its seventh season of playing in the Bundesliga 2 with an exceptional permit. The club is in regular contact with the city of Kiel, which is responsible for the renovation," said Schneekloth in the report.
Schneekloth took a positive view of the further development of the training infrastructure: "We have invested a total of four million euros in our training center over the past two years." The general meeting was attended by 588 members with voting rights. "We had to move the venue twice due to the high level of interest," said Schneekloth in his welcoming speech.
Holstein Kiel's financial success in Bundesliga 2 has been evident, as they've secured their license without conditions and have a high equity ratio. This economic stability allows them to continue their journey in the second division, where they currently stand in third place after 13 match days. [Soccer, Bundesliga 2, Holstein Kiel]
