- Schleswig-Holstein is commemorating the "Lengthy Evening of Democratic Practices" or "Extended Night Commemorating Democracy"
On October 2nd, multiple locations in Schleswig-Holstein will host "The Long Night of Democracy," celebrating German Unity Day. This event, filled with lectures, debates, and engaging activities, is all about the value of democracy and is open to the public. The organizers have recently revealed the schedule for this exciting event.
Christian Meyer-Heidemann, the State's Education Commissioner for Politics, stated, "October 2nd is a time to honor democracy. We aim to celebrate its triumphs and display our eagerness to safeguard it." The State Education Commissioner for Politics and the State's Adult Education Centers Association are spearheading this project.
A variety of artistic, cultural, and musical events will unfold in cities such as Kiel, Flensburg, and Lübeck, in addition to smaller towns like Friedrichskoog and Bordesholm. The agenda includes open discussions, live theater, poetry battles, music concerts, and city tours themed around democracy. All these events are completely free to attend.
