Schalke promises improvement in letter to members
Following another embarrassing performance by FC Schalke 04, the management board, supervisory board and players of the second-division soccer club have apologized in a letter to the club's members and promised improvement. During the 5-3 defeat in Düsseldorf on Saturday, many visiting fans had left the stadium early and no longer supported the team.
"We know how serious the situation is. We are aware that the upcoming games are of fundamental importance," the special letter to members said on Monday. For the next important match against bottom-of-the-table VfL Osnabrück, the expectations of the team have been clearly communicated: "Full concentration, total passion and three points for Royal Blue".
The supervisory board and management board were self-critical after 13 points and 16th place so far. "Mistakes have been made in the composition of the squad, some ideas have not worked out - we bear the responsibility for that. As the club management, we will do everything we can to correct undesirable developments during the winter break. We will also act decisively with regard to possible changes to the squad."
The professionals also promised the members improvement in the relegation battle in the rest of the letter. "We are ashamed of our performances in recent months. It is our duty to repay the trust you have placed in us." It is time to get back up, analyze, look for solutions by all means and support each other. "It's about the ambition and honor of each and every one of us, and we won't stop fighting for it," the Schalke players said.
The players of FC Schalke 04, currently in Bundesliga 2, acknowledged the seriousness of their situation after the 5-3 defeat and expressed their intent to focus fully on the upcoming game against VfL Osnabrück, aiming for a win to boost their points. Recognizing their mistakes in squad composition and team strategy, the club's management pledged to correct these issues during the winter break and consider potential squad changes.
