Women's national soccer league - SC Women loan Martinez from West Ham
Offensive player Shekiera Martinez is switching from Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt to West Ham United and will be loaned back to SC Freiburg by the Londoners directly.
The Breisgau-based club confirmed the one-year loan deal. The 22-year-old Martinez was trained at Eintracht Frankfurt and went through the German U15-, U16-, U17- and U19-National teams.
Martinez's move from Germany to England's soccer scene is notable, as she leaves Eintracht Frankfurt for West Ham United F.C. In her developmental years, she honed her skills in Baden-Württemberg, going through the German U15-, U16-, U17- and U19-National teams. West Ham United will lend her back to SC Freiburg in the West Ham deal. London is now her new temporary home, but her footballing roots remain firmly in Germany, specifically in Frankfurt. Her time at Eintracht Frankfurt was formative, and she aims to make a mark in the Soccer Bundesliga with her new team, West Ham United, once her loan period ends. Furthermore, this transfer could pave the way for other women's soccer transfers between England and Germany, potentially even involving Hesse and Fribourg clubs in the future.
