SC Paderborn: Contract with Kruse likely to be terminated

Second-division soccer club SC Paderborn has reacted to media reports that former national team player Max Kruse is about to terminate his contract. This could actually happen soon. "In agreement with the club, Max Kruse is currently undergoing rehabilitation in Berlin," said Paderborn's sporting director Benjamin Weber on Wednesday morning in response to an inquiry. "Irrespective of this, the sporting situation has not developed in the desired form for either side. With this in mind, we are working together to find a solution as to how to move forward."

On Tuesday evening, the portal "Reviersport" reported that the contract between SCP and Kruse would be terminated shortly. The 35-year-old is said to have already said goodbye to his teammates via WhatsApp.

Kruse made a surprise move to Paderborn last summer after being released by VfL Wolfsburg a year ago. The 14-time German international has only played five games for the East Westphalians so far. He has repeatedly had problems due to injury.

SC Paderborn is currently competing in Bundesliga 2, with Max Kruse being a part of their team. Despite being under rehabilitation in Berlin, the future of Kruse's contract with SC Paderborn seems uncertain, as reportedly both sides are seeking a solution to terminate it.
