- SC Magdeburg to Sweden with Isak Persson
Handball champions SC Magdeburg have signed 24-year-old Swedish player Isak Persson. The club reacted to the injuries of Tim Hornke and Daniel Pettersson during the Olympic tournament in Paris. Hornke will be out for up to six months due to a foot injury. Pettersson's condition remains to be seen after suffering a similar injury in the group match against Slovenia.
Persson played for Bergischer HC last season but had not joined a new club after their relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga. The right wing has played seven games for the Swedish national team and has signed a one-year contract with Magdeburg.
"Due to the injuries of our two right wings at the Olympics, we had to react again. We will have to do without Tim Hornke for several months. Given the upcoming tasks in all competitions, it was fortunate that we were able to sign Isak Persson at short notice to secure the right wing position once again," said SCM coach and sports director Bennet Wiegert.
Isak Persson's signing was a necessary response to theFootball injuries of Tim Hornke and Daniel Pettersson during the Olympic tournament. Unfortunately, Tim Hornke is expected to be out for up to six months due to his foot injury.
