SC Magdeburg in the semi-finals of the Super Globe after a resounding victory

After the Füchse Berlin, SC Magdeburg has also reached the semi-finals of the IHF Super Globe in Saudi Arabia. The Bundesliga handball team celebrated a 57:14 (28:7) victory over the Australians of the University of Queensland in Dammam in their final group game. The defending champions will now face Polish champions Barlinek Industrie Kielce in the semi-finals on Saturday (18:15/handall-globe.tv). Magdeburg's best scorers were the outstanding Daniel Pettersson with 26 goals and Lukas Mertens with 13.

The game was completely one-sided right from the start. The harmless Australians were completely out of their depth against Magdeburg. The clear underdogs made many technical mistakes, got stuck in Magdeburg's compact defense or failed to score against keeper Sergey Hernandez. The Bundesliga side quickly took a 9:1 lead.

Magdeburg often did not have to do much at all. The completely overstretched Queensland often made the mistakes all by themselves. After winning possession, the Bördestadt side repeatedly scored easy goals through quick counter-attacks.

As a result, the game was practically decided by half-time. Coach Bennet Wiegert therefore did not even have to use some of his highly stressed regular players and was able to rest them. In the second half, it was just a better training session for Magdeburg.

The University of Queensland HC faced a challenging match against SC Magdeburg in the IHF Super Globe, eventually losing with a substantial score of 57:14. In the semi-finals, SC Magdeburg will go up against Polish champions Barlinek Industrie Kielce, having showcased their dominance over international teams.
