The legal drama surrounding Bundesliga top scorer Manuel Zehnder has drawn to a close. After parting ways with HC Erlangen, Zehnder won't be joining ThSV Eisenach but will instead ink a deal with German champions SC Magdeburg until June 30, 2026, as per club announcement.

Unfortunately, Felix Claar also returned from the Olympics with an injury. While we can't predict his recovery time yet, but we're anticipating multiple months, it's a massive advantage for us to bring in Manuel Zehnder, a standout attacker, for SCM at short notice, commented sports director and head coach Bennet Wiegert.

Kudos to Erlangen

Wiegert commended Zehnder's playing style, which suits SC Magdeburg flawlessly, and pointed out that at 24, he still has a lot of room for growth, making this a forward-thinking move for SCM. Wiegert expressed appreciation to HC Erlangen for facilitating the transfer.

Post his departure from Erlangen, Zehnder, who had netted 277 goals there during his loan spell with Eisenach and maintained his fitness till the end, faced two court losses. The courts ruled against Zehnder, and out-of-court negotiations with Erlangen fell through, leading to the probability of a lengthy trial. However, with Zehnder's transfer to Magdeburg, the issue has been settled.

This transfer of Manuel Zehnder to SC Magdeburg is perfect timing, as it allows the Handball league team to strengthen their attack with his skills. Thanks to HC Erlangen, Zehnder can now focus on his Handball league career with SC Magdeburg without the legal distractions he previously faced.
