Start of training - SC Freiburg starts preparation with coach Schuster
Still without several football-National players, SC Freiburg started the preparation for the upcoming Bundesliga season under new head coach Julian Schuster.
At the first training session under the 39-year-old successor of long-term trainer Christian Streich, Michael Gregoritsch and Philipp Lienhart (both Austria) as well as Roland Sallai (Hungary) were still missing. Ritsu Doan, whose leave after national team duties with Japan was extended, and Kiliann Sildillia (Olympic preparation with France) joined later.
Schuster could welcome the new signings Eren Dinkci (1. FC Heidenheim), Patrick Osterhage (VfL Bochum), and Jannik Huth (SC Paderborn) at Europa-Park Stadion. Hugo Siquet also returned to the Sport-Club, he had previously been loaned out to Cercle Brugge.
Matthias Ginter (after Achilles tendon surgery) and Daniel-Kofi Kyereh (after cruciate ligament tear) cannot train with the team yet. Around 4,000 spectators followed the preparatory start - more than ever before at a Freiburg training session.
