SC Freiburg drew 2:2 (0:1/0:2) against Italian Serie A side AC Florence in their final warm-up match a week before the start of competitive play. Following a stadium celebration and official team presentation to kick off the season, the match was played in three 45-minute periods in front of 33,300 spectators at the Europa-Park Stadium.

New SC Freiburg head coach Julian Schuster's team had more chances throughout the game but fell behind early to the two-time Conference League finalist. Moise Kean (10') opened the scoring with a counterattack. In the second half, Rolando Mandragora (72') extended the lead from the penalty spot, awarded after SC captain Christian Günter's foul. Michael Gregoritsch (122') pulled one back from the spot late on, and Maximilian Philipp (130') equalized after a corner.

Defender Matthias Ginter made his first appearance since Achilles tendon surgery, playing the final 15 minutes. New signing Eren Dinkci (abdominal issues), Manuel Gulde (back pain), Roland Sallai (load management), and French Olympic silver medalist Kiliann Sildillia were all absent.

Freiburg's new season begins next Saturday (3:15 PM) with a first-round cup match against third-tier side VfL Osnabrück.

Despite their efforts in the German Bundesliga being yet to commence, SC Freiburg gave a solid performance against AC Florence, demonstrating their potential in the upcoming season. In the German Bundesliga, SC Freiburg aims to build on this performance and challenge for top spots.
