The Saxon tourism sector experienced a triumphant winter, according to the involved governmental entity. The past winter season garnered more success for tourism within the Free State than in the past five years, as reported by the Saxon Ministry of Tourism in Dresden on a recent Wednesday. Notably, the month of March was instrumental, boasting an impressive 1.5 million overnight stays. This phenomenon is additionally acknowledged on a national scale. One contributing factor is the fact that Easter holidays fell in most federal states during the month of March.

Saxony's Tourism Minister, Barbara Klepsch (CDU), commented: "For the Saxon tourism industry, this winter season balance is fantastic news, which demonstrates that we're on the right path." She acknowledged that with more snow accumulation and sustainability, it would have been the best winter period yet. "The numbers also indicate that our endeavor to create appealing snow-independent winter alternatives is progressing in the right direction."

The results of the winter season are governed by three factors: snow, Christmas holidays' location, and vacations. Unfortunately, numerous rural regions fell short of pre-COVID overnight stays owing to snowfall's paucity. Leipzig had not only its best ever March but also its best ever winter season. In comparison, Dresden also had its most successful March and winter season; albeit the winter season in 2017/18 was slightly superior.
