Economic policy - Saxony Economic Development Corporation sees successful trade fair year

Wirtschaftsförderung Sachsen GmbH (WFS) organized appearances at industrial, technology and food trade fairs in Germany and abroad for 193 companies in the Free State in 2023. Managing Director Thomas Horn summed up "a successful trade fair year", according to a statement on Sunday. The high number of 75 first-time exhibitors shows that trade fairs are an "important instrument of corporate marketing" and that personal exchange is important for customer acquisition and building business relationships, despite digital formats.

According to WFS, participation in joint stands is particularly beneficial for small and medium-sized companies, as it saves them time, costs and organizational effort. In 2023, these were held for the first time at the largest pharmaceutical and healthcare trade fair in Vietnam and the largest tech conference in Europe in Lisbon (Portugal). Meanwhile, the Free State of Bavaria has been represented at Arab Health in Dubai for over 15 years.

In 2024, according to Managing Director Thomas Horn, the WFS wants to bring Saxony more into the international spotlight as a global semiconductor location for the first time at GITEX Global, one of the most important electronics trade fairs. In addition to appearances at established trade fairs such as the Green Week and InnoTrans in Berlin, JEC Composites World in Paris and Smart City Expo in Barcelona, Christmasworld in Frankfurt, the semiconductor trade fair SEMICON Japan in Tokyo and gamescom in Cologne are new additions to the program.
