The municipalities of Saxony-Anhalt again saw an increase in debt as of the end of 2023, according to an announcement by the Statistical Office in Halle. This figure reached a whopping €3.055 billion, representing a 4.5% jump from the previous year. When it comes to per capita debt, €1,401 was the average in these areas, which is a €63 hike compared to the same time last year.
Interestingly, it appears that the affiliated communities and associations' debts stayed relatively the same. On the other hand, the financial obligations of the districts and district-free cities saw a rise.
