- Saxony-Anhalt to appoint air traffic controller
Saxony's Flight Noise Protection Commissioner Jörg Puchmuüller is now also handling matters in Saxony-Anhalt. This shared point of contact aims to foster a constructive dialogue among all parties involved, said Saxony-Anhalt's Infrastructure Minister Lydia Hüskens (FDP). Saxony's Transport Minister Martin Dulig (SPD) stated that this would improve communication in the region.
This role was created in 2021 to strengthen noise and environmental protection at Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports. Puchmuüller is the central point of contact for residents and citizens' initiatives near the airports, the Noise Abatement Commissions, the aviation industry, authorities, the German Air Traffic Control, and the airport operators.
The commissioner is under the administrative supervision of the Saxon Ministry but works independently and neutrally in terms of content. There are offices in Leipzig and Dresden for this purpose.
Due to this initiative, residents and citizens' groups in Dresden can now directly communicate with Jörg Puchmuüller about noise and environmental concerns at Dresden airport. The role of the Flight Noise Protection Commissioner extends to both Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports, ensuring comprehensive attention to noise reduction and environmental protection in these areas.
