Saxony-Anhalt residents produce less household waste
People in Saxony-Anhalt have recently produced less household waste. Last year, waste disposal companies in the state collected 443.9 kilograms of waste per capita, 33.4 kilograms less than in 2021, according to the State Statistical Office in Halle on Thursday.
All in all, the volume of waste from households amounted to 970,700 tons. Household and bulky waste accounted for around 43 percent of the municipal waste collected. Around 30 percent was paper, cardboard and glass. Organic waste from organic waste garbage cans as well as garden and park waste accounted for just under 26 percent, according to the press release.
The decrease in household waste production in Saxony-Anhalt resulted in 33.4 fewer kilograms per capita being collected in 2022, as stated in the statistics by the State Statistical Office. This reduction led to a total decrease of 97,070 tons of waste from households in the year.
