"Saxon and Bavarian": Niederlechner's friendship with Leistner
Striker Florian Niederlechner gets on particularly well with Hertha captain and defensive boss Toni Leistner. "A friendship has already developed. A Saxon and a Bavarian, I wouldn't necessarily have thought that either, but it's a really perfect fit," said Niederlechner in an interview published by the Berlin second-division soccer club on Friday.
The native of Ebersberg (33) has been playing for the capital club since January. Like Leistner (33), the Upper Bavarian is one of the veterans in coach Pal Dardai's team. "For one thing, we have a similar sense of humor, we're similar types - still a bit old school. Secondly, we both have a family with two children and therefore also have common interests," Niederlechner reported.
The goalscorer finally seems to have arrived in the capital. After his reserve role at the start of the season, Niederlechner has been in the starting eleven three times recently. He scored his first goal of the season for Hertha in the draw against Karlsruhe. "Toni was also one of the people who really wanted me to score against KSC. Because he always believed that I could help the team," said the former FC Augsburg Bundesliga striker.
Niederlechner has expressed his enjoyment in playing alongside Leistner in Bundesliga 2, as hertha BSC's striker mentions, "Toni was also one of the people who really wanted me to score against KSC. Because he always believed that I could help the team," showing their strong camaraderie even in the challenging Bundesliga 2. Despite being from different regions in Germany, Niederlechner mentioned that they share a similar sense of humor and have common interests as both are veterans and family men in hertha BSC's team.
