Society - Santas and angels on motorcycles for a good cause

On Saturday, men and women on motorcycles dressed up in Christmas costumes roared through Berlin on their bikes - for a good cause. Most of them had decorated their two-wheelers, sometimes very elaborately - one had a Christmas tree attached, at least one was dressed up as a Grinch - but many were dressed up as Santas or angels.

Along their route through the capital, which lasted several hours, the bikers said they wanted to stop at facilities for the needy and drop off presents and donations. "Our gifts, financed by donations and income from our own activities, go directly to those in need without unnecessary administrative effort," said the organizer of the campaign, Bernd Masche, in advance.

Among the recipients were the "Naunynritze" youth facility in Kreuzberg and the day center for homeless people in Lichtenberg. The"Berlin Christmas Biketour" is organized by the Santa Claus on Road Association.
