Sané feels in the "flow": pat on the back from Nagelsmann

Leroy Sané always had the image of a little lout. That has changed recently. The high-speed player is in top form. National coach Nagelsmann persuaded him to make a rare appearance.

Sané feels in the "flow": pat on the back from Nagelsmann

Julia Nagelsmann couldn't help but laugh and slapped Leroy Sané on the shoulder like a buddy. For the first time in a long time, the 27-year-old sat on the media podium before the European Championship test against Turkey. The national soccer coach probably also recognized the special moment when asked why. "I'm not someone who likes to talk a lot," said the Bayern attacker apologetically. But Nagelsmann had encouraged him, perhaps even persuaded him a little, to come along "and answer the questions", said Sané in the large basement room of the Berlin Olympic Stadium.

Sané did not have to fear any major verbal pitfalls. Things are going well for the high-speed player with the DFB team and FC Bayern this season. He is also guaranteed a place in the German starting eleven on Saturday (20:45/RTL). Nagelsmann likes the play of his former Bayern player and has found an unusual but successful front two for his 4-2-2-2 system in him and Niclas Füllkrug.

Sané enjoys the sporting freedom, he said, and wants to "give back performance". He will be playing his 58th international match against Turkey. He has scored 13 goals for Germany, most recently in the 2-1 win over France in September. He feels in the "flow", he said.

And yet he still has that eternal boyishness about him. Seriousness is not his core competence. Plus an exalted fashion style. He won't get rid of this image any time soon. Sané's future at Bayern will not become an issue until the second half of the season at the earliest. His contract in Munich runs until the summer after next. "I haven't given it any thought yet," he said about a possible extension.

Things should finally go well at a major tournament at the home European Championships in 2024. He was a young star at the 2016 European Championships, but only played once as a wild card, and in 2018 he was surprisingly left out of Joachim Löw's final World Cup squad. He failed to score a goal at the 2021 European Championships. And last year in Qatar, he was injured before the Japan opener. Before he was 100% fit again, the tournament was over for Germany. "I have big goals and always try to motivate myself," said Sané.

Leroy Sané's performance with both the German national team and FC Bayern has been impressive, earning him a spot in the starting eleven for the upcoming match against Turkey. The DFB coach, Julia Nagelsmann, appreciates Sané's play, forming a successful front two with Niclas Füllkrug in her 4-2-2-2 system.

Leroy Sané's impressive form with the German national team continues, as he prepares to represent the DFB team once again, this time in an important match against Turkey. With hiscontract at Bayern Munich running until the summer after next, Sané's future with the team remains uncertain, but his dedication to the game and constant desire to improve remain undeterred.
