Movie - Sandra Hüller after Globe nomination: "More than grateful"
Actress Sandra Hüller is grateful for the international recognition she is currently receiving. In the past few days alone, the 45-year-old has received a Golden Globe nomination, the European Film Award and a US Critics' Award.
Asked about her nomination for a Golden Globe, she said: "I am more than grateful for the many nominations from the Hollywood Foreign Press for "The Zone of Interest" and "Anatomy of a Case", including mine. The nominations show that we are all connected, no matter our backgrounds. These two films speak a universal language to anyone and everyone. I'm delighted."
Hüller plays the lead role in Justine Triet's legal drama "Anatomy of a Case". Her performance in the film, which is as discreet as it is meaningful, has earned her great praise since its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. The film won the Palme d'Or there. The second most important prize at the festival went to the historical drama "The Zone of Interest" by Jonathan Glazer, in which Hüller plays the wife of Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss alongside Christian Friedel.
It was announced on Monday that Hüller, who comes from Suhl and lives in Leipzig, has a chance of winning a Golden Globe for "Best Actress in a Film Drama". Both "Anatomy of a Case" and "The Zone of Interest" are also nominated. The trophies are to be awarded on January 7, 2024.
The next big step in the film award season for Hüller would now be the shortlist of Oscar nominations, which will be announced on December 21. The nominations list itself will then be announced on January 23 - and the Academy Awards ceremony is on March 10.
