Flooded opencast mine - Sale of the Goitzsche to be reversed
The sale of the Goitzsche to a private investor ten years ago is to be reversed. The city council has decided to withdraw from the purchase contract due to "non-fulfilment of contractual obligations", the city announced on request. In the non-public part of a special meeting on Monday evening, the majority of the city council voted in favor of this, participants confirmed on request. The MDR had previously reported on this. The mayor had asked the managing director of the municipal urban development company to initiate all measures for this. If the investor did not agree to this, there would have to be a legal clarification.
The city council accuses the buyer of breaching contractual obligations. Among other things, it is said to be about free access to the lake. The managing director of Goitzsche Tourismus GmbH, Ingo Jung, rejected the accusations on request. He said that the contract was watertight and that everything had been fulfilled in terms of content.
