Celebrate achievements with accolades and honors. - Sabrina Schmohl wins Kirsten Boie Prize for children's literature.
Sabrina Schmohl, the author behind the manuscript "Bodhi, Joe and a village full of ghosts," is the recipient of this year's Kirsten-Boie Prize. The Hamburg Literature Foundation shared the news on Tuesday in Hamburg. Along with a 5,000 euro monetary reward, Schmohl will also receive a publishing deal with Oetinger. The reason for this recognition is that her work is humorous while also tackling big life questions, such as "What's my homeland? What's shaped me? And what do I take with me when I have to leave a place?" The story takes place in a brown coal mining region and revolves around the relocation of a village.
Schmohl, who was born in 1986 in Mönchengladbach, has experience as an editor and co-author in a language institute. Meanwhile, Wiebke Strank will receive the Kirsten-Boie Prize 2024 fellowship for her novel manuscript "The old man, the sea, and me."
