- Saarland will invest approximately 30 million euros during the initial half of the year.
The administrative body of Saarland predicts a boost in expenditure on construction undertakings this year, surpassing last year's spending levels. During the first half of the year, the state doled out 30 million euros on construction ventures, as mentioned by Reinhold Jost (SPD), the Minister of Interior, Construction, and Sports, in Saarbrücken. During this same period, orders for planning and production amounted to a sum of 47 million euros, accounting for approximately 63% of the total orders from the previous year.
Significant construction projects include the construction of a new Center for Biophysics at the University of Saarland in Saarbrücken, due for completion by the end of 2025. Furthermore, the main building of the Philosophical Faculty at Saar University is undergoing renovation and expansion.
Multiple construction projects are in progress across various university departments and the University of Saarland in Homburg. The plans for a new construction of the Landesfeuerwehr- und Katastrophenschutzschule in Homburg with an integrated fire station are currently being drawn up.
"The Ministry of Interior and Construction is backing both academic and medical sectors and is helping to maintain the long-term competitive edge of university locations," commented Building Minister Jost.
The University of Saarland, located in Saarbrücken, is currently constructing a new Center for Biophysics, set to be completed by the end of 2025. The main building of the Philosophical Faculty at Saar University, also in Saarland, is undergoing renovation and expansion.
